The Bike Park of the Future....is (almost)Here!
It was all about Love. From the moment shovels struck the earth on a vacant lot in Brooklyn..........In June of 2013, the most unique bike park in New York City and the first legal off-road bike facility in the borough of Brooklyn opened its gates, and what a wild ride it's been since that day.........
In the beginning we had no Idea where we'd end up, but one thing has certainly proved itself over and again -the love and support you've shown us has demonstrated that we are up to something great!
So big are your hearts, and so many are your visits, that the developer/owner of the property on which we reside has taken notice. We have been offered a new home across the street from our current location on Kent ave. for a new term of FIVE YEARS!
Our focus for the new site will be to redefine the user experience for both the riders, and spectators so that a day in the park is as far away from it all as you can get (with a waterfront view of the Manhattan skyline.)
Brooklyn Bike Park is a not-for-profit corporation that has many shareholders- the thousands of visitors who come through the park each year! We exist solely to manage the park, and to help develop and manage more of these opportunities in more neighborhoods throughout NYC.
We work closely with The New York City Mountain Bike Association, to demonstrate a funding model to the city of New York that can be implemented in both new and existing off-road trail networks on public land throughout the city. These trails currently have no funding for maintenance staff or development. As the Brooklyn Bike Park model becomes more refined, it's continued success will help redefine the way off-road bike access is managed city-wide!
